About Sophie

I never planned on becoming a celebrant. It was more that I went to enough weddings where the celebrant was just okay, or was great but clearly didn’t really know the couple. I, somewhat facetiously, always thought I could do it better.

Then two of my closest friends got engaged, and I decided to put my money where my mouth is.

You might know my from some of my concurrent adventures as Gung Ho Creative. I’ve been a florist, telling stories through flowers too. It might sounds slightly dramatic, but sometimes flowers are the only option when words won’t suffice. I’ve also spent time running bars and coordinating weddings, which means I’ve seen enough from the inside to know what actually works. There’s not much I don’t know about how they unfold when they’re happening.

My day job is writing real estate copy, making people fall in love with property before they’ve even stepped through the door. I’ve got an English Literature degree, a long-standing habit of over-consuming books, films, and pop culture, and a fairly committed inability to switch off when it comes to noticing how stories are told.

And I’m genuinely comfortable on a mic. No nerves, no shaky hands - more of a Midge-Maisel-accidentally-ends-up-owning-the-room energy.

All of that feeds into celebrancy. Everything I’ve done before gives me the tools to tell your story exactly the way you want, because a wedding should feel like it belongs to the people it’s about. Not something you sit through and mentally edit, not a chat-gpt spit out, and not something generic enough to fit anyone.

Let’s start yours.

Why Sophie

A ceremony might only be a small portion of the day, but it sets the tone for everything that follows. it matters more than people think.

If you want to get all the formalities done in one hit so the rest of the day can feel completely relaxed and informal, I can absolutely do that.

If you want the ceremony to feel like the introduction to a curated event - one that tells your story properly, not just the legal version of it - that’s what I do.

If you just want someone who will take care of the legal bits, and the speaking in front of everyone part, while making you feel completely at ease doing it… I do that too.

There isn’t one version of a ceremony that fits everyone. That’s kind of the point.

You’ll notice there are no packages or pricing on this site, and that’s deliberate. I don’t work from templates or tiers - I work with people. I like to meet, get a feel for it, and see if it’s the right fit on both sides before anything else is decided.
